THE IBERCAJA FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE NETWORK OF SCHOOL CANTEENS IN CAMEROON

Once again this year, the Ibercaja Foundation is supporting different entities, forty in total, which are developing International Cooperation projects in the most disadvantaged areas of the world. Entities with initiatives in India, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Afghanistan, DR Congo, Nicaragua, Kenya, Venezuela, La Trinidad, Dominican Republic, Chile, Bolivia, Madagascar, Ecuador, Colombia, Morocco, Syria, Senegal, Chad, Uganda, Agola, Haiti, Guatemala and Angola.

In particular Ibercaja has given us a grant of €3,000 for the nutrition programme for children at the Saint Antoine de Padoue primary school in Bamendjou, Cameroon.

We thank the Ibercaja Foundation for once again supporting the projects of the Itaka-Escolapios Foundation.

THE IMPACT OF THE ITAKA-SCOLAPIOS FOUNDATION ON SUB-SAHARAN POVERTY

We would like to thank Desislava Valerieva Dimitrova for choosing Itaka-Escolapios for her Master’s Thesis in International Relations and Communication. The study goes in depth into the work that the Itaka-Escolapios NETWORK carries out in Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique.

TEN YEARS OF GIROA-VEOLIA’S COMMITMENT

Giroa-Veolia has renewed its commitment to solidarity with the Itaka ESCOLAPIOS NETWORK. With this year’s financial contribution, Giroa-Veolia celebrates ten years of solidarity with the Itaka-Escolapios educational projects in America, Asia and Africa. Your solidarity, which over these ten years has resulted in more than 170,000 € in donations, is an important pillar for our organisation.

Working days with the Kamda Pious Schools

From 28 February to 4 March have been working in Bilbao with the project management team the Piarists of the Viceprovince of India, James Santiago and José Thomas.

José Thomas is a member of the Congregation of the Vice-Province of India and James Santiago is the director of the Calasanz School of Kamda. During the visit they continued to shape the project “Ensuring inclusive and comprehensive education to the population of Kamda” which aims to increase the number of children enrolled in secondary education for which the construction of a new Piarist school is planned.

Social aid to improve the impact of education in Venezuela

At the end of December 2023 we receive good news, the Community of Madrid has approved the project “Social aid for the improvement of the educational impact in Venezuela”.

The project aims to improve education in five schools of the Piarist presences of Barquisimeto, Caracas, Carora, Maracaibo and Valencia. To this end, we will strengthen five community canteens attended by about 1000 vulnerable people and the teaching staff and workers of the five schools will receive an economic incentive for the purchase of the family food basket.

The project, which has a cost of 139.000 €, has been financed with 73.633 € by the Community of Madrid, the rest of the budget will be financed by the Itaka-Escolapios network and Itaka-Escolapios Venezuela.

ITAKA-ESCOLAPIOS MEXICO MEETING WITH THE NETWORK

The Project Management team of the Network has joined the process of diagnosis and definition of the projects to be developed in Campeche that Itaka-Escolapios Mexico has started.

After a first meeting, two people from the team, Carlos Orson and Jon Sustatxa, have joined the team that will define the mission of Itaka-Escolapios in the presence of Campeche. The meeting was attended by Igor Irigoyen (Coordinator of the Itaka-Escolapios network), Mayte Ramírez (Coordinator of Itaka-Escolapios Mexico) and Fr. José Luis Sánchez (Assistant for Projects, Management and Sustainability of the Province of Mexico).
